Senior Software Engineer – Infrastructure, DevOps, SecOps, Automation, DBA

We are hiring for one our clients which is a telecom operator in Qatar.

• Key Responsibilities

• Must have Hands-on experience in configuring and building the complete Oracle DBX stack infrastructure (On-prem, Cloud) environments
• Administer and support virtualization platforms including VMware ESXi/vCenter, OLVM, and Oracle VM (OVM).
• Perform Linux/Unix system administration, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using Bash scripting, Ansible, and Jenkins pipelines.
• Manage virtualization lifecycle activities including VM provisioning, migration, cloning, snapshots, HA, and DR operations.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, virtualization, networking, and application performance issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Operate and support carrier grade infrastructure platforms supporting business services.
• Manage and troubleshoot virtualization, compute, storage, and networking components.
• Perform system patching, upgrades, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
• Support high availability and business critical platforms with minimal service disruption.
• Participate in the change management, CAB, and incident/problem management processes (ITIL aligned).
• Security Operations for Enterprise Environment
• Provide day-to-day operational support for Vodafone security solutions across IT and cloud platforms.
• Monitor platform health, alerts, and service availability in line with Vodafone SLAs and OLAs.
• Support security incident investigations, remediation actions, and post incident reviews.
• Ensure adherence to Vodafone security policies, standards, and global governance frameworks.
• Maintain up to date operational documentation, SOPs, and runbooks.
• Support and operate security controls embedded within CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to implement DevSecOps practices.
• Design and maintain automation scripts to reduce manual effort and operational risk.
• Support containerized and cloud native platforms used across IT environments.
• Drive standardization and repeatability in deployments and security controls.

• Required Technical Skills

• Infrastructure Experience (Essential)
• Strong background in enterprise scale infrastructure operations, ideally within telecom or regulated environments.
• Hands-on expertise with virtualization platforms
• Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM)
• VMware vSphere / ESXi
• Strong Linux administration experience
• Oracle Linux 7 / 8 / 9 / 10
• System troubleshooting, patching, performance tuning, and hardening
• Solid understanding of enterprise networking and storage concepts
• VLANs, bonding, IP addressing, DNS
• SAN / shared storage concepts
• Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments (on premises + cloud)
• Cloud Experience (Required / Preferred)
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (OCI, VMware and OLVM)
• Understanding of cloud compute, networking, storage, and identity/security services
• Experience operating workloads across hybrid and multi cloud Vodafone landscapes
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as:
• Jenkins
• GitLab CI/CD
• Harbor
• Artifactory
• Sonarqube
• Practical knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
• Terraform, Ansible, Helm
• Experience with container platforms:
• Docker
• Crio, Podman
• Kubernetes (on prem or cloud)
• Scripting & Automation (Mandatory – Vodafone Focus)
• Strong hands-on experience in scripting and automation for enterprise operations.
• Proficiency in:

• Ability to automate:
• Infrastructure and security operations
• Monitoring and health checks

• Network security (firewalls, segmentation)
• Endpoint or server security EDR
• SIEM / centralized logging platforms
• Vulnerability, access management and Hardening as per CSS benchmarks.
• Ivanti or similar patch management solution
• Certificate management
• Micro segmentation solution
• Deception solution
• Strong grounding in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTPS, TLS).
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Hands-on experience in installing and configuring the Oracle DBX applications databases
• Good with RAC concepts and database architecture
• Perform DR, backup restoration drill, Data guard
• Good performance analysis
• Hands-on in Setting up RAC and standalone database
• Good with Oracle ASM
• Preparation of RCA for Major Incidents
• Database impact analysis in case of major activities.
• Hands-on experience on data replication, backup and restore
• Cloning database for supported assets.
• DB – Flashback configuration and restoration
• OEM setup and configuration
• Maintaining and updating Infra AS IS / Infra Documents
• Providing root cause analysis.
• Starting and stopping databases, ASM, RAC services.
• Hands-on experience in database Backup and recovery
• Defining and Executing Effective Housekeeping, Maintenance activities to improve Application availability and performance consistently.
