Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC – Design) – UPDA certifiedLocation: Qatar

1. Purpose of the Role
To lead the design and development of HVAC (air conditioning and ventilation) systems for construction projects, ensuring efficient, compliant, and high-quality mechanical design solutions aligned with project requirements and international standards.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. HVAC Design & Engineering
- Lead HVAC system design including cooling load calculations, duct sizing, equipment selection, and system layouts.
- Develop design concepts and detailed mechanical drawings for air conditioning and ventilation systems.
- Ensure energy-efficient and cost-effective design solutions.
B. Design Coordination
- Coordinate with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.
- Ensure proper integration of HVAC systems within overall building design.
- Resolve design clashes and technical issues.
C. Codes & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), ASHRAE standards, and local authority regulations.
- Prepare and review design submissions for approvals.
D. Technical Review
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittal, and method statements.
- Respond to RFIs and provide technical clarifications.
- Conduct design reviews and value engineering exercises.
E. Construction Support
- Provide technical support during the construction phase.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure proper installation and compliance with design.
- Assist in testing & commissioning of HVAC systems.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- UPDA/MMUP Certification mandatory
- 10–12 years of experience in HVAC design within construction projects
- Strong experience in consultancy or contractor design environment
Technical Skills
- Expertise in HVAC design (chilled water systems, VRF, ventilation systems, etc.)
- Proficiency in software: HAP, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools
- Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards and local codes
