In order to strengthen our Sales department with additional product knowledge, we are currently looking for a “Key Account Manager” for our subsidiary in Lubumbashi/Kolwezi, DRC.
About the Role
We are looking for a driven and customer‑focused Key Account Manager to manage and grow strategic relationships with mining customers and their subcontractors. You will be responsible for driving sales of machines, spare parts, components, and aftermarket services to achieve the company’s commercial objectives.
This role requires a strong business development mindset, excellent customer‑relationship skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Administration & Reporting
- Act as the primary point of contact for all customer needs: equipment, spare parts, and service solutions.
- Grow revenue with assigned key accounts while establishing long‑term, strategic partnerships.
- Monitor and report on competitor activities within your territory.
- Provide detailed activity reports to the Equipment Sales Director and to your direct manager, covering:
- Equipment sales & hot deals
- Spare parts offers & sales
- Service offers (contracts, overhauls, rebuilds, etc.)
- Present regular Business Reviewsper customer, including:
- Machine fleet overview
- Sales performance & ongoing offers
- Customer projects and strategic insights
- Competitive intelligence
- Billing & collection follow‑up
- Submit monthly sales forecasts (machines and parts).
- Collaborate with the Finance team on account follow‑up and contribute actively to receivables collection.
- Support the preparation of annual revenue budgets for your customer portfolio.
- Work closely with all internal SMT Africa departments to ensure seamless customer support.
Sales & Customer Service
- Promote equipment sales by offering complete value‑added solutions: financing options, extended warranties, and maintenance contracts.
- Coordinate with the After-Sales team to ensure smooth machine preparation, delivery, and commissioning.
- Develop spare parts sales based on customer fleet utilization and support customers in managing their parts inventory.
- Expand service contract opportunities with the support of the After-Sales team, including:
- Extended warranty packages
- Service contracts & spare parts agreements
- Advice on equipment maintenance and life‑cycle optimization
- Overhaul proposals aligned with OEM recommendations, leveraging our Component Rebuild Center (CRC)
- Boost sales of attachments, GET, and undercarriage parts by offering:
- GET conversions
- Wear measurement programs (UC + GET) performed by a technician
- Hammer sales with preventive maintenance programs
- Actively participate in key industry events such as Mining Week, exhibitions, and customer open‑house events.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience (5+ years) in mining, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery sales
- English is mandatory, any other language is a huge plus
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Ability to develop long-term client relationships
- Good understanding of after-sales processes and technical environments
- Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational skills
- Team player mindset with a customer-centric approach
