Job Summary:

The job holder shall be responsible serves in an important role as representative at the medical offices in the assigned country (Bonn/ London/ Thailand/ Washington) and act as the main point of contact for global health diplomacy in their respective countries.

The medical attaché in the medical office of the respective country takes care of the Qatari patient’s health conditions and follow up on the treatment processes as well as provide the medical advisory when needed.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Accompany the patient travelling abroad for medical treatment and provide services to move on with the recovery of the patient, make treatment more bearable for them.

2. Draft a yearly plan to improve the internal work processes of the health office. This plan includes the work areas administration, accounting, IT and services.

3. Follow up on medical, administrative, and financial review provided to Qatari patients in various therapeutic institutions for Quality control.

4. Provide patients with all information regarding their treatment and stay abroad, from arrival until departure.

5. Determine suitable medical facilities for the patient travelling abroad.

6. Meet patients at the airport, manage transportation from and to airport, from and to heath provider, for the patients.

7. Arrange to visit patients to collect their feedback and complaints, then share it with the department.

8. Review all the financial procedures including the medical invoices before commencing the payment.

9. Verify the medical reports and sick leave.

10. Establish a database for the patients and their escorts along with treatment, any other cost, to be shared periodically with the department.

11. Ensure the patient and escort safety for returning back to home country.

12. Provide interpretation services when the patients meet their physician, and/or translate the written medical reports to/from English.

13. Arrange payment of daily allowance for patients and escorts.

14. Oversee transport of the patients from living quarters to hospitals and rehabilitation facilities.

15. Manage all necessary paperwork for visa extensions for patients and escorts in cooperation with the corresponding authorities.

16. Procure medication and medical aids for the patients during the treatment abroad if required.

17. Organize the patient’s travel back to Qatar.

18. Prepare and submit periodic performance reports to MoPH MRTA , including trends, clinical outcomes, complaints, and continuous improvement opportunities.

19. Contracting with service providers in general, ensuring the quality of their performance and their compliance with contractual terms (transportation companies, translation services, external audit firms, pharmacies, etc.).

20. Supervision of students and employees sponsored to study abroad.

21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Working Conditions:

Outside Qatar, Medical offices in the assigned country (Bonn/ London/ Thailand/ Washington)

Essential Education

Bachelor’s/Master’s/ PhD degree in Medical / Biology science/ Health Care Management / Public Health or relevant field.

Essential Experience

Minimum 12 years’ experience in healthcare related field in which 5 years in leadership/management
